No fish are introduced without a health check, to do so would compromise all of the hard work that has been put into the fishery. So please DO NOT bring your old unwanted goldfish to the fishery thinking that it would the perfect place for it to live! You don't know what it could be infected with. Even if the fish is showing no outward signs it could still be a carrier of diseases and parasites which could have a devastating effect on ours or anyone else's fish stocks! DO NOT RISK IT; it is illegal - punishable by fines up to £2,500
Homeclose Fishery Gains a Gold Accreditation
Homeclose Fishery has been approved and certified for a Gold level fisheries accreditation from the Stillwater Fisheries Accreditation Scheme.
The Scheme is based upon a set of standards that is designed to sustain the welfare of fish within fisheries. Achieving these standards largely centres on the Institute of Fisheries Management codes of practice and its biosecurity codes for the management of stillwater fisheries.
The aim of the Scheme is to drive upwards the competence of those managing fisheries and for fisheries to demand similar levels of competence from those that supply fish, provide fishery management advice, transport fish and carry out health examinations. This will have direct and indirect benefits to the health and welfare of fish stocked into stillwater coarse fisheries.
